Check out this Bun!

This is a very simple Up-Style.

All you need is two hair ties and two bobby pins.  If you have very straight hair;  blow it out with product to give it as much volume as possible and then curl before continuing to the next steps (I did curl some of my hair before starting because, I did not want to top to be flat.)

Start off with a simple pony tail
Using another hair tie secure the hair in a half loop (just don't pull it through all the way)

Now work the hair around in a bun shape.  This does not have to be neat.

And secure with 2 bobby pins at the top and bottom.  If you feel like it is more secure if you add more, go for it!

Beachy Waves

Make sure you use some product in your hair to protect it from heat control frizz and hold style first.  This style should be done on completely dry hair. It will  work best on someone with a little natural texture.

1. Split and braid your hair into two sections and tie with a rubberband.

2. Twist the braid away from your face.

 3. Then twist the flat iron onto your hair in the same direction your hair is twisted. Do not touch rubberband or else you will get that weird crease. Repeat this process twice!

After hair is cooled, then take them out and run your fingers through the braid.

Casey Mae Gallaher

This is great way to start off a Monday and maybe connect with some of you.

If you knew me..

I really like singing loud with the windows down...even if I cant hold a note.
You would know that I never thought I would have 3 children or even give birth to 2,  pregnancy was rough.
I love coffee (the foo-foo kind), peanut butter and ice cream is by far my weakness.
I need my sleep and I get cranky when I am hungry.
I think it is a great day when I can make someone, anyone feel/look good.
I believe that folding and putting away clothes are by far the worst chores in my house.
Everyday I eat Greek yogurt with blueberries and 1/4cup of grape nuts (granola has too many calories).
If you really knew me, you would know that I love to go to church with my family and I pray one day my Mom and Dad would come too.
You would know that the only thing I am afraid of is traveling alone.
I like short vacations.
You would know Jeremy, my husband is my hero.
I cant tell anyone NO!
And...if you know me you know all my deepest secrets and there are not too many because, I talk too much.

What about you!?!

What an AMAZING Day!

Today I had the "treat" of going to the Leadership Summit.  The owner of the salon that I work at Bloom Studio Salon treated anyone who wanted to go to this 2 day pass of incredible insight and inspiration.  She is pretty AWESOME.  Oh boy,  did I take in a lot of information at this conference not only that applied to my business but, also in my personal family life also.

In Summary......
In order to grow in business you MUST think outside the box, step outside of the all so familiar comfort zone.  We all need to take risks to reap the benefits.  There is no reason that we can not become better at what we do there is always potential for growth...  You and only you are the only one holding you back!!!  Major "aha" for me today was,  that you need to honor the people around you especially the ones who have gotten you where you are today.  Above all else honor God with all you have because if it was not for him you would not be where you are today and without putting your trust in him you will stunt your growth in all life has to offer.    Never forget that you need those who came before you.  Never take for granted the life lessons of the past because they will come back to help you in your future.

We heard from one of a brother partnership they had an idea to start a non-profit company at the age of 12. Say What!  I feel like sometimes we just have no clue what out children are capable of.  It is the largest network of children helping children through education.  It is called,  Me to We.   By doing this they are creating a more compassionate and emphatic generation.  This hit me pretty hard.  As a Mom what I hope to teach my children is how to be respectful and how it is a pretty amazing day if you can make a positive difference in someones life. I would love teach my children to be independent and self-LESS.  I will be making it a point to teach my kids to do "small things with great love."  I think that they do not understand how lucky we are to be living the life we have even when times are rough, we still have clean water.  So it is our job to teach them and place them in situations where there heart will be humbled.

This is just a tiny bit of what I heard today but these were the topics that had a impact on me and I hope this touched your heart.  I am so thankful for Mackenzie that I had this opportunity and am excited to hear more tomorrow.

Casual Style

You can find it at: Forever 21, DSW, and Kohls
The head band is  a DIY check out post from today!

Oh So Simple Headband

This a very simple 10 min. no sew project and you can make it in absolutely any color, or maybe even two colors (that would be pretty fantastic!).

Things needed for this project:
Material, hot glue gun, and scissors

For this headband I used a pair of  stretch pants a pair that I was not going to ever wear again.  You could use any piece of clothing that would otherwise go to waste.
 1. cut one of the legs off and cut it into 2 pieces or, 2 pieces of material big enough to fit around your head. No real measuring required (gotta love that)
2. Cut a piece of material about this size and save it for later.  We will use this to make it look finished where we connect the ends of the headband
3. Now we can make the knot out of your two pieces of material...

4. Now PULL
5. Now it is time for the hot glue.
You need to attach to loose ends to each other on either side of the headband.

6.  It is time for the extra piece that I told you to hold on to, this is how you will make the headband round.  Glue to one side then the other.
Finally, wrap it around...Ta-Dah!! you have a headband...The best part it was FREE!

Why Sulfate Free?

Do you all wonder what all the rage is about sulfate free shampoo?  At this point all the professional lines of hair products have come out with sulfate free line of product.  However, your everyday grocery store brand still have this chemical in them.  As a Hairstylist I know that sulfates will reduce the longevity of your hair color.  I realize that people like to save money (so do I) but, we all have to realize that for certain things there is a reason why they are less expensive.  By far this is the truth with hair products.  They way I think of it is.  If you buy an expensive suit you would not even think of throwing it in the washing machine.  Your hair is an investment in the same way as the suit... so take it to the dry cleaners ;)

What we call sulfates is, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)  it is a relatively inexpensive, yet rather powerful, grease cutting detergent that also aids in the foaming nature of soap. It's been used in all kinds of soap products from your shampoo to heavy de-greasing agents used on mechanic's shop floors.  Would you wash your hair with mechanics soap...  REALLY?   I want my soap to be foamy and I don't want oily hair. The problem is that, even in diluted quantities, sulfates cause an unhealthy scalp and hair.  Therefore, causing dandruff and weakened hair follicle causing hair loss eek!!!

I would love for you to try it and see for yourself the difference that you will experience when using a professional sulfate free shampoo.  Your hair color will last longer, your hair will feel better.  The best part is you will use less shampoo because, professional shampoo is more concentrated so you  only need a little bit. Also if you like a sudsy head, "add water not more soap".  Pureology is a line of all sulfate free products and they are for all hair textures.
